Susan Glazer is a jewellery artist who creates unique and exciting pieces in sterling silver. In addition to traditional jewellery techniques, Susan also weaves strips of sterling silver and crochets strands of fine silver wire into beads, earrings, necklaces and bracelets.
“I have always loved making things with my hands. As a child I experimented with macramé and crocheting and then moved into more intricate loom weaving”. Her journey for designing and creating jewellery began ten years ago, when she inherited twenty boxes of semi-precious gemstones. She began taking courses in silversmithing for jewellery, as a vehicle to use these beads in creative ways. She was intrigued about the properties of metals and a world of new tools, new techniques and new forms. As a result, Susan has fused her passion for textiles and metal work into wearable sculptural jewellery!
Susan enjoys the rhythmic and repetitive processes involved in the creation of each piece of jewellery. It has become a meditative practice, being mindful of each detail and consistency in technique. She sees the creation of jewellery as a connection between her own ideas of form and design and how they will compliment the wearer’s idea of self expression. Her studio is located in the quiet woods of Chelsea, Quebec.
