For Circle Arts 2010 Stephanie King
“A century home in Dundas, Ontario is
my home and studio. A life long passion for jewellery has, not
surprisingly, evolved into a passion for jewellery design. Coloured
gemstones have always been favourites and now with a wonderful
array of unusual and diverse stones available for use in jewellery,
the opportunity to create pieces in unique and dramatic combinations
of colour, texture, shape and light is a wonderful and incredible
experience. An experience that gives me great joy. The beauty
of a stone , whether it is hand faceted, smoothly polished or
rough cut, is in itself my inspiration.
My hope is that the allure that I feel for stones will be reflected
in my jewellery.”
Stephanie works with sterling silver—chain and wire—and
a great variety of stones-precious and not—as well as pearls,
corals and amber. Each piece is hand selected and great attention
is paid to detail. Lately copper and vintage jewellery bits have
been included in some of her work. This is a reflection of the
constantly evolving nature of her designs.
She is a member of the Beyond the Valley Studio Tour in Dundas,
one of the longest running tours in Ontario and also participates
in select art festivals in the area. Currently she is continuing
her courses in silversmithing .
