Recent recognition and participation includes:
- 2009, 2010 & 2011 NICHE Award finalist – Woodturning professional
- New Board member of the Ontario Crafts Council – June 2010
- Worked with Brian Oates, the OCC, Burdette Gallery and the Village of Erin to mount the 9th Annual Made of Wood Show – April-May 2010
- Invited to do a Holiday show with glass blower Sam Stang at the Craft Alliance, St. Louis, MO., November, 2009
- Gave a lecture “A Canadian Wood Turner in Cheongju” as part of the Canadian celebrations at the Cheongju International Craft Biennale, Cheongju, South Korea, October, 2009
- One of my pieces was selected to be shown at the Museum of Vancouver 2010 Crafts Exhibition, part of the Cultural Olympiad which took place during the 2010 Olympic Games, January 13 to April 17, 2010. It was also shown during the G20 in Toronto, Ontario – June 2010
- Produced an hour long video, in English and Korean called "The Art of the Stick", October, 2009
- One of my pieces was selected for the international show, Out of the Box, and received Honourable Mention at the Cheongju International Craft Biennale, September 23 to November 1, 2009 (CICB)

- Worked with the Dufferin County Museum & Archives to mount a major Made of Wood Show from September 12 - 27, 2009
- My work was selected for the special "Father's Day '09" show at the Craft Alliance Delmar Gallery in St. Louis, Missouri, June, 2009
- Worked with Arnold DeGraaff to produce the highly successful Dufferin & Area Arts & Culture Guide for 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2011.
- Chair of the 8th Annual Made of Wood Show at the Burdette Gallery, April 18 to May 10, 2009.
- Juried into the “Craft Convergence” show at the Tom Thomson Gallery, Owen Sound, December 7, 2007 to January 27, 2008. Received a design award for my lilac stick bowl titled “The Ayes Have It!”.
- Juried into the “Ontario Craft ‘07” show at the Ontario Crafts Council Gallery, Toronto, November 15 to December 31, 2007
- Juried into the Headwaters Arts Festival Art Show – My Passion, My Art, September 22 – 30, 2007
- In June, 2007, Past U.S. President Bill Clinton purchased one of my pieces at the Guild Shop in Toronto

Relevant life history
• Founder of the Headwaters Arts Festival
• Helped found the “North of 89” studio group
• Member of the Headwaters Studios
• Helped produce the 2008 Dufferin & Area Arts &
Culture Guide which was released March 27, 2008
• Co-founder of the Made of Wood Show
• Self-published an eBook on making stick bowls in 2002
• The previous 6 years working full-time as a turner but
not making any money, founded the Headwaters
Arts Festival in the Hills in 1995, sat on the
Headwaters Country Tourism Association board.
• I spent 3 years as a part-time turner while running a
die-cut puzzle operation.
• From the mid 80’s to the early 90’s I had
a hiatus from woodworking while I got my allergies
sorted out, worked on developing Tapestry Maps with artist
John Haines, sat on the board of the Georgian Triangle Economic
Development Corporation for 8 years and was
chair for two years.
• From the early 70’s to the mid 80’s I had
a cabinet making shop with several employees,
owned a restaurant for a time, got married and had two
lovely daughters and developed serious allergies to wood dust.
• I am a lifetime member of the Ontario Crafts Council.
• I received a degree in history and a minor in mathematics
from Laurentian University in 1973.
