Susan Skaith, originally from Massachusetts, has lived and worked in London, Ontario for over 40 years.
As a young child, I admired my grandmother’s many turquoise and silver bracelets that she always wore. I wanted to know where the turquoise was from and why it was that color.
As a result, I developed a great interest in minerals, how they are formed, where they are mined, etc. I have traveled extensively in the southwestern United States exploring the many mineral shops that supply materials from that region.
This has influenced my desire to use minerals as the basis of my work. Jewelry is the medium that enables me to share with you these incredible gifts from the earth.
