David Solomon

David’s fascination with wood began at a young age and has progressed through several stages of woodworking.  Starting with the construction of functional furniture, he progressed into making smaller, utilitarian, pieces such as bookends and kitchen utensils.  His woodworking then evolved into the creation of decorative wooden boxes and cutting boards.

David’s boxes and boards are created from exotic hardwoods and burls combined with various types of maple. These woods, which are carefully selected for complimentary colours & patterns, are often combined with focal pieces obtained from his cottage property on Manitoulin Island including spalted maple and crotch maple.   Many hours have been spent searching out the gnarliest sections on downed trees to yield the most beautiful accent pieces for the boxes and boards.
